Fall is a perfect time for a weekend getaway. A few days in a different environment gives energy to get ready for winter. It is not necessary to travel far away to be rejuvenated, but there is a place I would love to visit. It’s a geothermal spa in Iceland called Blue Lagoon. My colleague Eva visited this place this year and she told me what a special place it was.
She and her husband stayed there one weekend bathing and relaxing. They enjoyed fresh drinks in the natural shaped outdoor pool and admired the beauty of stony lava fields. I asked her about saunas, but she said they didn’t even look for them because the water was so hot.
The warm waters are rich in minerals and bathing in the Blue Lagoon is said to help people suffering from skin problems. Eva told me that the spa has many kind of energizing treatments, but massage is the thing to try. It takes place in water!

Right after the temperature falls to wintery figures and we start to heat our house, my skin turns really dry. Even though I keep applying moisturing cream constantly, my hands and face keep on drying.
My daughter, who loves home made and natural beauty masks, suggested to me to try her latest experiment the ‘Sweet Smoothness’ hand & face mask. She promised my hands and face would immediately look and feel softer and younger. Very funny!
Sweet Smoothness mask
2 tbs of Olive oil
1 tbs of Honey
3 tbs of Sugar
Mix all ingredients and rub the mask on your face and hands with warm water. Exfoliate for one minute and rinse off.
How something so simple as this can feel so good!

After a long and sunny summer I always feel a little bit worn out and would need something to freshen up. Especially my hair looks totally dry and tired.
On Thursday I was at Kati’s place and once again complained about my hair. We were going to Manhattan to see what’s happening in Fashion’s Night Out -event. And of course, going amongst all beautiful and trendy people, made me look at my hair even more critically than usual.
The following day I found a great surprise in my email. Kati’s daughter Lotta had sent me a recipe of her favorite natural hair mask for dry and damaged hair. She loves to make cosmetics herself and try them at home. This Saturday evening I’m going to stay at home, relax and try this one.
Reparing hair mask for dry and sun damaged hair
1/2 of ripe avocado
2 table spoons of olive oli
1 egg yolk
1. Mix ingredients together until well blended.
2. Smooth the mask to dry hair and leave it in place for at least 15 minutes
3. Rinse off the mask thoroughly, but do not shampoo. Your hair should feel softer and look healthier!
4. Wash and condition as usual the next morning.
